The 50th Hong Kong International Film Festival — April 1-12

Celebrating its 50th edition, the Hong Kong International Film Festival returns from April 1 to 12. Founded in 1976, HKIFF is one of Asia’s most respected film festivals, screening over 200 titles from 50 countries and regions. This year, HKIFF50 will honour acclaimed Chinese director Jia Zhangke as Filmmaker in Focus, showcasing his films and hosting a public Face-to-Face session.
Another highlight is In the Mood for Love – In Concert, where Wong Kar Wai’s iconic work will be screened with live orchestral performance by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Joshua Tan.

Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival — April 1-30
The fourth Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival will take place in April 2026 under the theme “Beyond Fantasy”. Spanning film, performing arts, and exhibitions, the festival presents over 120 events across 20 programmes. A major highlight is the ImagineLand music carnival on 25 and 26 April at the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui.
The same weekend offers Movie Under the Stars, an outdoor cinema at Salisbury Garden featuring local fantasy-romance films. Other notable programmes include the restored 4K version of The Kid (1999), the opening concert Dreamscape, and the outdoor installation Pop Unboxed.

SongKran HK — April 3-5
Held for the first time at PMQ in Central from 3 to 5 April 2026, the three-day event celebrates Thai New Year and Songkran, which was inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Highlights include the traditional bathing of the Buddha, merit-making offerings to monks, blessings at the Four-Faced God shrine, and the popular Songkran Mister and Miss beauty contest.
Visitors can also explore a Thai-style market, taste authentic Bangkok street food, try on Thai costumes, receive tarot readings, watch cultural performances including traditional Thai dance and Muay Thai, and enjoy Thai massage.

COFFEE HONG KONG x Tokyo Coffee Festival — April 3-6
On the first weekend of April, the COFFEE HK x Tokyo Coffee Festival will be held at the Great Lawn of WestK. This outdoor festival, which embraces the “Chill Beyond Circle” theme, marks the first time the Tokyo Coffee Festival is coming to Hong Kong.
Over 50 coffee brands from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and other regions will participate, including BALMUDA, GLITCH COFFEE, PHILOCOFFEA, and many local favourites. The event also features F&B options such as burgers, pizza, and gelato, along with a spirits zone and lifestyle booths.

CON-CON Hong Kong — April 4-5
CON-CON Hong Kong 2026 makes its debut at AsiaWorld-Expo on April 4–5 with a packed programme about IP culture. Visitors can expect the appearance of Japanese classical musician and flute performer Cocomi, the first-ever CON-CON ambassador, who provided voice acting for Mirage Queen’s Elegant Vacation. She also voiced Kiko’s Restaurant and contributed flute performances to the film’s soundtrack. Other performers on the lineup include Anson Kong@MIRROR, Tyson Yoshi, Yoko Takahashi, Goodnight Lillie and Maki Goto.

Ching Ming Festival — April 5
Every spring, Hong Kong families observe the Ching Ming Festival by visiting ancestral graves to show respect and remembrance. Tombs are carefully cleaned, incense is lit, and offerings such as roast meats, fruits, and paper representations of daily goods are presented. Falling on 5 April this year, the day often becomes a family gathering.

Glam Rock — April 10
Hong Kong Ballet presents Glam Rock from 10 to 12 April at the Academy Lyric Theatre. This dynamic triple bill highlights the connection between music and movement through three distinct works. Andonis Foniadakis’ Strangelove explores human emotion with intense choreography set to Depeche Mode. Trey McIntyre’s Mercury Half-Life (Asian Premiere) combines ballet and tap to Queen classics such as We Will Rock You and Bohemian Rhapsody.
The world premiere Martlet, choreographed by Hu Song Wei Ricky and Mai Jingwen, features costumes by Hong Kong designer Robert Wun and is set to music by the legendary local rock band Beyond.

Hong Kong Sevens — April 17–19
Hong Kong Sevens 2026 will mark the 50th anniversary of the tournament, celebrating five decades of one of Asia’s most recognisable sporting events. Held for the second time at Kai Tak Stadium, the event brings together international rugby sevens competition and large-scale entertainment. Off the pitch, fans can expect live performances, including a show by Vengaboys, adding to the festival-style atmosphere that surrounds the matches.

UCI Track World Cup, Hong Kong, China — April 17-19
Hong Kong will once again host the UCI Track Cycling World Cup, welcoming elite athletes for the second round of the 2026 series. The event draws top national teams to contest in a range of Olympic track disciplines, offering valuable world ranking points ahead of the World Championships. Spectators can expect thrilling races and an electric atmosphere at the iconic Hong Kong Velodrome.

Hong Kong Web3 Festival — April 20-23

Asia’s premier crypto gathering, Hong Kong Web3 Festival, takes over HKCEC from April 20–23. The fourth edition is set to host more than 400 speakers, 200 exhibitors and 200 side events, drawing an estimated 50,000 visitors. Previous editions welcomed industry heavyweights such as Vitalik Buterin of Ethereum, Hong of OKX and Lily Liu of Solana Foundation, cementing its global influence.

Cantomania Friday+ at Mirage — April 24

After sold-out editions in February and March, Cantomania Friday is returning to Mirage with an extended April party. Taking place on April 24, Cantomania Friday+ will run from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Mirage, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong, with Cantopop hits, two selected drinks, and free-flow canapés included. Standard standing tickets are HK$350, while a VIP table package is also available. The party will continue on a monthly basis, with more editions already lined up for May and June.

Blooming: The Art of Gardens in East and West — April 24-July 29
The exhibition Blooming: The Art of Gardens in East and West opens on 24 April at the Hong Kong Museum of Art and continues until 29 July. The free exhibition features 106 paintings and artefacts from the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Palace of Versailles, and the Hong Kong Museum of Art, including two masterpieces by Claude Monet – Water Lilies (1906) and Water Lily Pond (1900).
The display examines garden culture in both Chinese and Western traditions, including grand imperial gardens of Emperor Qianlong and King Louis XIV, as well as artistic representations by masters such as Zhang Daqian and Wen Zhengming.

Festilumi — Until April 26
The world-famous Festilumi lights up Hong Kong’s Wan Chai Harbourfront with over 20,000 glowing sculptures and immersive zones. You are invited to explore nine themed areas at this international light festival, such as the Tree of Lights, Jurassic Kingdom, and Tunnel of Colours, each designed for stunning photo ops and evening strolls.

FutureScope — Until April 5
Hong Kong’s first 360° immersive art dome opens at the waterfront Dream by the Sea. Step inside a 12-metre hemispheric theatre overlooking Victoria Harbour and surround yourself with groundbreaking ArtTech creations blending Eastern philosophy, media art, Tuvan throat singing, wine calligraphy and Cantonese opera. Three rotating experiences: Perpetual Records (ft. Daito Manabe), Resonance Aura (ft. Sainkho Namtchylak) and Waving Script (ft. Xu Jing), plus live performances and workshops await.

CR7 LIFE Museum Hong Kong — Until June
Opening July 7, Asia’s first CR7 LIFE Museum will arrive at K11 MUSEA. Celebrating football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, the 12,000 square feet exhibition pay tribute to his extraordinary careers, with major trophies, rare memorabilia, and interactive displays like a UR CR7 YouTube studio replica. While we are waiting for the confirmation of the celebrity guest list at the grand opening, you can now buy tickets and get merchandise perks. Before the museum opening, you can visit the CR7 LIFE Flagship Store at Times Square for exclusive memorabilia from June 7.

Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now — Until August 9

Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now offers a focused look at one of Asia’s most influential contemporary artists, bringing together significant sculptures, installations, and works on paper from across her career. At M+, the exhibition unfolds in three parts: an open landscape of architectural forms from Mon grand récit, a section devoted to the gender‑conscious Cyborg and Anagram series, and an intimate studio‑style arrangement of sketches and models. The show invites visitors to explore how Lee Bul interrogates modernist utopias, technology, and the body while on view in the West Gallery, L2, until 9 August 2026.

Now in its 33rd edition, French May Arts Festival 2026 unfolds under the theme Re/naissance, suggesting a fresh dawn for culture in Hong Kong. DJ Snake Live in Hong Kong — May 8
DJ Snake headlines the French May Arts Festival’s opening electronic music show on 8 May at Central Harbourfront Event Space. HYROX Hong Kong — May 8-10
HYROX Hong Kong is back and bigger than ever from 8 to 10 May at AsiaWorld‑Expo, offering a full‑body challenge that blends steady running with strength‑based stations. Athletes complete eight 1 km runs, each followed by a functional workout, repeating the sequence eight times across the day. Registration opens at 8:00 am, with the first wave starting at 9:00 am.

Cheung Chau Bun Festival — May 10, 24, 25
Cheung Chau’s Bun Festival draws tens of thousands of visitors each year for its mix of ritual, sport, and island‑style festivity. On 10 May, the Bun Tower Climbing Team Relay and Ultimate Team Challenge headline the Climbing Carnival at Pak Tai Temple Playground, where teams race up a bun tower while the public joins in stall games, handicraft making, and variety shows.
The climactic Bun Scrambling Final takes place late on 24 May, running into the early hours of 25 May, as 12 finalists scramble up the bun tower to collect lucky buns amid cheers from the crowd.

Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong — May 14-17
The Affordable Art Fair Hong Kong comes back from 14 to 17 May, inviting visitors to explore a curated mix of contemporary art at approachable prices. UFC Macau — May 28–30

A State of Trance — June 12
A State of Trance is coming to Hong Kong to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special one-night event at AsiaWorld-Expo. Led by Armin van Buuren, this marks the first time the global dance music brand brings its anniversary edition to East Asia. While they’re yet to announce the line-up, fans can expect one of the biggest electronic music experiences of the year filled with trance and progressive sounds!

Jesus Christ Superstar Musical — July 8-August 1
The Olivier Award‑winning rock opera JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR arrives in Hong Kong this July, bringing the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production to the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 8 July to 1 August.
With music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, the show reimagines the final weeks in Jesus’s life through a bold fusion of rock, opera, and soul, featuring classics such as I Don’t Know How to Love Him, Gethsemane, and Superstar. Led by director Timothy Sheader and choreographer Drew McOnie, it promises a visually striking and emotionally powerful theatrical experience.
